**CLOSED** Milk-Saver Review and Giveaway Ends 06/30

I love breastfeeding but I hate to pump.  I am sure most breastfeeding mama's feel this way.  When I was given the opportunity to review the Milk-Saver by Milkies I was so excited!

The Milk-Saver is a milk collection device that you slip into your bra or nursing tank to collect the milk from your non-nursing side.  Sounds strange and looks complicated but it is really easy and simple.  The Milk-Saver has got to be one of the best inventions ever!

The Milk-Saver has been rigorously tested to ensure zero chemical leaching and contains no BPA or phthalates.  The Milk-Saver is also recyclable.  The milk collection reservoir holds 2+ ounces of breastmilk but you can turn it upside down and attach any brand of breastmilk storage bag to it for heavier leakage.

When I first opened my Milk-Saver I was actually a little surprised to see how large it is.  I thought there is no way this can be worn discreetly.  I immediately went and washed it and put it on.  I went up to my husband and asked him to tell me what side I was wearing it on.  I could see it sticking out a little bit on one side and I was sure he would be able to see it as well.  He guessed the wrong side every time I asked him to guess.  I was pleasantly surprised with that.

The first time I wore the Milk-Saver I didn't get very much out but I wasn't too surprised since I had fed Aniala on that side shortly before.  The next time I wore the Milk-Saver I collected one whole ounce of milk!  I was shocked.  I had no idea I was leaking that much into my cloth nursing pads.

The Milk-Saver is quite comfortable, so much so I forget that I am wearing it after a few seconds.  I learned a lesson the hard way about keeping the case near by.  The case doubles as a stand for the Milk-Saver so you can pull it right out of your bra and keep it upright while you lay down the baby.  I had just finished feeding Aniala and my husband was trying to get Korben to bed.  Korben started screaming for me so I quickly handed over Aniala to my husband and leaned down to pick up Korben.  I ended up with milk all over me soaking my bra and shirt!  I know there was quite a bit in there because I had peeked in there while I was feeding Aniala.  The last time I split milk I actually cried because I hate pumping so much and is not very comfortable at all.  This time I was disappointed but mostly because I couldn't measure how much milk I collected.  I didn't waste any effort at all collecting that milk and it would have ended up in the laundry anyway.

The Milk-Saver is easy to clean too.  Just clean the Milk-Saver with soapy water or it is top shelf dishwasher safe.  I have been washing it with soapy water in between uses during the day and then at the end of the day I run it through the dishwasher with my load of dishes.  It dries really fast too, I just hang it upside down on a bottle rack and it is always dry by the next feeding.

Today when my husband came home Korben had low blood sugar and was being pretty fussy.  I wanted to get dinner started right away and wouldn't you know it Aniala got hungry right then.  I still had the two ounces of milk I collected today in the fridge so I just put it in a bottle and I was able to finish dinner while my husband fed her.

Since I am a stay at home Mom I really don't have to pump but there are times when I like a break from the kids to go shopping or to a movie.  Plus I always like to keep a little stash just in case.  I used to only pump on the weekends but now I think my pump will be retired.  I will be using my Milk-Saver all the time now!  Every breastfeeding Mama needs the Milk-Saver!

With our first child, I would soak through nursing pads so when I saw these a few weeks ago I vowed to get one before our next child to stop the waste of milk!

  15. I would LOVE this! I work part time, so pump most days, which I hate. When my husband heard that pumping 1 oz burns 20 calories, he suggests that I pump all the time! :)

  16. The nearest location for me is Pickles and Ice Cream in Edmond, OK. I would love to try this product because with my first child I wasn't able to get very much milk out when I would pump. Which was discouraging and I ended up giving up after only 3 weeks. With my second baby (due in Sept) I would like all the help I can get!
