I love trying out all kinds of cloth diapers. I have to say it is going to be a sad day when I no longer have any kids in diapers. I especially like it when I see something new and different in a cloth diaper. I recently came across the Wahmies One Size Hook diaper and was given the opportunity to review it.
Wahmies generously sent us a Wahmies One Size Hook diaper to review. Wahmies also offers the one size diaper in snaps but I was intrigued by the hooks. Most of our diapers are Aplix or Velcro diapers because Brent thinks anything else is too hard. He also won't use a pocket diaper unless it is already stuffed for him. Well I have been getting annoyed at our Velcro diapers now that Aniala has learned to crawl. She scoots on the floor along with crawling and she twists herself all around and the Velcro comes undone. When I saw the Wahmies one size diaper I had to try it out.
The Wahmies one size diaper is well made and the pocket was easy to stuff. The inside is lined with polyester velour and is really soft and plush. The insert included is a bamboo and cotton fold to fit insert, which is a little different than most inserts. It dries quickly since you fold it up your self and it absorbs very well. Brent did try to put it with our wash cloths though when he was putting up the diaper laundry. Although I don't understand how he could do that because we only have purple wash cloths! I showed him the tag says "Cloth Diaper Company" on it.
The diaper holds up well over night and we have not had a leak in it. I love that it has elastic in the front as well because Aniala has chunky thighs but a skinny waist so she has a gap up top on almost all of her diapers. We have been getting some leaks from there but the elastic on the front of this diaper keeps it nice and snug on her. Aniala has never had a red mark from this diaper either, it fits her well.
The hooks on the Wahmies one size hook diaper were a little intimidating at first and it is a learning curve to hook them up just right. I suggest practicing on a doll (or a non crawling baby!) Aniala is at the point where she will not stay still since she learned to crawl. It made it difficult to figure the hooks out but after I mastered it the hooks are easy now! With all the settings this diaper has I do believe it will even truly fit a newborn. I set the settings as little as they go and it makes a little bitty diaper.
